"Land of Noah" travel agency organizes a combined
Tour, during which you will have a chance
to get acquainted with the peculiarities of Armenian Christianity, its rich history and heritage, enjoy the magnificent view of Ararat mountain, admire the medieval armenian architecture and taste armenian wine.
The first stop of our trip is the world’s first Christian Cathedral - Echmiadzin, built in the early fourth century (301 - 303) by Gregory the Illuminator. The word “Echmiadzin” means a place where “the only begotten son of the God descended”. According
to a legend, Jesus Christ descended from heaven and indicated the spot for a church
to be built. Echmiadzin is the residence of the Supreme Catholicos of all Armenians and the center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
The next destination of our
Tour is one of the brightest landmarks of medieval Armenian architecture – the magnificent
Zvartnots Temple constructed in the 7th century. These temples are listed on the UNESCO World’s Cultural Heritage Sites.
Monastery
Khor Virap is the place where Grigor Luisavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) was imprisoned for 13 years before curing King Trdat III of a disease. This caused the adoption of Christianity in Armenia in the year 301. In fact, the name
Khor Virap means “deep pit”, named after the prison where St. Gregory the Illuminator was held.
The next stop will be Monastery
Noravank, which dates back
to XIII—XIV centuries. The complex includes the 1339 St. Astvatsatsin (“Burtelashen”) sepulchre-church, St. Stepanos Nakhavka and gavit, the St. Grigor Church and Stepanos Orbelian Sepulchre, the remains of medieval chapels and residential quarters and a modern office and hall.
It’s not a secret that since ancient days Armenia was famous for the wineries where original traditions were kept until this day. One of these wineries is in Vayots Dzor province -
Areni winery. During our trip, you will have an opportunity
to visit the winery and taste armenian wine.
