This stone house dates from about 1850. It was one of the first asymetrical houses, and one of the last stone houses to be built. A transition of technology and architecture. It is unusual to have the single window on the main floor of the main wing, larger houses often have a door there too. There are many frame and brick houses of this style dating after 1850. It is well landscaped.

A terminal moraine at the south end of Dog Lake. Glaciers buldozed this sand, gravel and boulders here at the end of the last ice age, 12,800 years ago. Water separates stone by size, glaciers mix them up. Looking south.
Church manse. Built about 1850. It was one of the first side kitchen houses, replacing the very semmetrical boxy style built up to then, and one of the last stone houses built. Railway brough in bricks from Napanee after 1856, and few stone houses were built after that. Beautifully maintained. You just cannot appreciate such houses while driving by at 80 kph. You have to stop for a minute.
Loyal Orange Logdge L.O.L. # 365, built in 1857. They were once found all over the country, all are closed. This has good quality solid stone work.
Former Dufferin Loyal Orange Lodge No. 1269. There are many L.O.L.'s around the country side, but none operating still.
