The Shangri-La Taipei offers excellent support and assistance with its main downside being a bit far from the MRT. It makes up for it by having an ample chain of taxis ready to take you anywhere. The hotel rooms themselves are spacious and have facilities surpassing most and with just about everything tough of, from ample power outlets to ethernet and stable wireless. For the businessman on the go, the Shangri-La is a sure fire. Food at the various restaurants and the buffet are good and varied as expected for a hotel.
Given, the Shangri-La provides luxurious rooms by most international hotel standards at a good value, mainly attainable by Taiwan's lower cost of living prices. While I believe staying at the Superior or Deluxe rooms are just okay in terms of value and would instead recommend boutique hotels and rooms that are offered throughout Taiwan, the Executive and Premier rooms are spacious, comfortable with good amenities, and offers great views of Taipei City. In the last two times I opted to pay a little extra to stay in the former rooms.
The Shangri-La of course is not the most expensive hotel in the city and there are higher offerings at the W and other luxury hotels located at Xinyi. But considering that Shangri-La is one of the largest and original hotels in Taiwan and yet the facilities show no sign of wear or age, and has taken care to upgrade its facilities, this makes it far better than classic alternatives like the aging Taipei Grand Hotel.

Nice and upscale hotel. Location is good and airport transport right at the front of the hotel

I travel for work. Taipei was my 5th City within Asia work tour. Had a great experience at this hotel. It was: clean, spacious, well located with many options. Staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous, especially Benson, Bell Boy. I was looking for a local laundry place. Benson took me to several laundry places. Benson is the best! Marco Polo restaurant: food was amazing and staff was very friendly!
