Excellent by African standards, mediocre by Marriott international standards. A decent and safe place to stay, with wifi, good food, and essential air conditioning in the Dar area.

This was a classy place to be. Not far from the State house in Tanzania, near palm beach, there is a unique serenity added to the good service from the disciplined and respectful staff

Charming, quaint, historical. It's in a great part of town - as close as you'll get to the city center, without any chaos. The Seaview area is quiet, safe, and easily accessible. The restaurant is among the best in the city thanks to a 5star head chef. I've been living in Dar for many years, Protea is probably the best kept secret for hotels. Even if you don't stay here, check it out.
