I love book stores! I especially love to visit local bookstores. I was excited to stop into Grand Valley books before dinner and even found a couple titles I liked enough to purchase. However, after a brief exchange with the owner, I have to say I'll never go back to this store nor recommend it to anyone. As I was browsing through the books I was texting on my cell phone... no bid deal right? Wrong! The owner stormed up to me to tell me that I couldn't take photos of the books and that I had to put my phone away. Whoaaa.... I wasn't even taking photos. I even flashed her my phone screen which showed a text thread. She was still unpleasant and stubbornly defended her position that I was not allowed to take photos of the books. I didn't even know what to say... I just put that books down and walked out... I can't remember a time a shop keeper has treated me so poorly as the lady did when I stopped by Grand Valley Books.

Went there for a book signing of Debbie Brockett. Lovely little store. Like bookstores used to be.

Buying and finding a book here makes you feel good about yourself... the digital age will never replace having a real book in your hands to read... many many options here... get your "book" on today!

A book lover's paradise. New, used, and old books for sale. There are nearly a dozen artists works akso available for purchase. Owner and staff are helpful if you're looking for a unique book.

Grand Valley Books is FANTASTIC!!!. The service, book trade program, and local selections are beyond reproach. If you are truly interested in books, the selection is very good for a small shop. When I have requested items (1 to 3 per month), they respond very promptly.
The warm welcome and great service at Grand Valley Books was a major factor when we chose a community to move to 2.5 years ago. That quality service was repeated again this week when I stopped by and ordered two new books, in 3 days I received an email saying they were in.
On behalf of those two negative people, I must say I do not shop small business, pick their brain, and consume their time and then buy on line. I feel I should spend my money to support local business where I have chosen to live and enjoy the great downtown area they have brought to the area.
Side note: I have now taken time to check other prices on the last 10 books I purchased. I found Grand Valley Books price was equal to or better than other price on all of the books.
