Not sure how this hotel gets such good reviews. It is not terrible, but it isn't exceptional.

Just off the main square, it appears to have an enviable location. However it sits directly opposite a derelict area with hoardings around it. There is no impressive facade, just a small entrance next to a tourist shop.

Our room was on the 5th floor, overlooking the Square. As the sound proofing is limited, the noise from the Square was intrusive. The churches ring bells at 7am and the work then starts on the numerous building projects.

It was a small room in the attic, short of what would be expected of a 5 star hotel. It was clean, as was the bathroom. The shower worked well, as did the aircon and heating.

Having spent time in the city there look to be better options.

PS - the Meliá hotel next door, a modern alternative, had a good value mildly upmarket restaurant if you have eaten enough potato dumplings and bratwurst.

Beautiful rooms in an amazing location. The staff members were also very kind and generous. We had a great time at this hotel.
The spa was on the 6th floor, but was very beautiful and well kept.

Good hotel in great location when visiting Dresden. Only downside was very limited room service offer. Sounds funny but with - X degrees outside it would have a been great to enjoy the comfort of the room by staying in.

"Terribly noisy but fair play -free stay" is how I would summarize. We had booked a suite facing the church and the square and were expecting a quiet Saturday night sleep. Nope! At 10pm started a disco in the hotel, 3 floors below us, and the noise was so strong I couldn't fall asleep. At 11pm, I called the reception who told me the party was finishing and people were leaving. At 2am it was still going on unabated and I blew a fuse. In pajamas, I went at 2:30am asking that the noise stop (we are after all in Germany where at 10pm, there is a stop all noise rule). Very embarrassed, they stopped the disco. Apparently, other people complained as well. I would have given a 1* rating except that, after writing a complaint letter, the hotel first offered a 50% discount which I refused and got a full free stay. Fair play though I would have preferred the fee and sleep. Note for the hotel: check the lights in the rooms, for a 5* Superior hotel, they should all be working and 2 were not.
