Cosy friendly place, can be quite crowded. They roast their own coffee. 3 stars bcs their roast is just too bitter and acidic for me, I tried twice, thought that maybe the first time the shot was a bit off, can happen. But 2nd time same thing. Certainly worth trying out if their house style is for you.

The best coffee in Groningen, maybe the best in the Netherlands. They roast their beans themselves and do it well. The owner is a proud barista and will try to persuade you to engage into a purist experience of coffee. Don't bring out your laptop, this is not the place for work, it the place to enjoy good coffee, preferably without sugar ;)

I have come here various times over the course of the last two years. The quality of the coffee has been consistently superb. Nevertheless, experiences have varied markedly.
While the owner is unquestionably knowledgeable and passionate about coffee, his approach as a host has been unreliable. It ranges from affable and open to quirky to sometimes downright unpleasant and scornful - greatly taking away from the experience of the good cups of coffee.
Now, I don't expect a clown behind the counter 24/7 and everybody has an off day now and then, but particularly lately I have had serious doubts as to whether the owner is genuinely appreciative of his (regular) customers. In the future, i'll think twice before recommending this place to anyone...
