Green Leaf Eco Tourism

I am a solo female traveler and spent one week in Bangladesh. I traveled up to Srimangal and took a tour with Green Leaf Eco Tourism. I highly recommend you go with this travel company when planning to travel to Bangladesh as they efficiently arrange everything from accommodation, transport to tours from anywhere in Bangladesh. I did a four day tour with local, experienced Tapas Dash as tour guide. Tapas dash is already mentioned in the Lonely Planet and Bradt guide book as a guide who is the director of Green Leaf Eco Tourism. It’s mainly a Srimangal/ Sylhet based Tour Company but offer tours all over Bangladesh with the help of local communities in promoting eco tourism. The tour was excellently catered to suit both my budget and interests, with nothing left to worry about only to enjoy every minute from beginning to end. On the first day I went to the Lotus Lake, tea plantations around Srimangal and visited a local tribal village. It was fascinating to see the tea pickers out in the field picking leaves, the scenic views at Lotus Lake and to learn about the way of life in a typical tribal village in Bangladesh. On day two I went to Sylhet to check out the Swamp Forrest. All arrangements for travelling to and from Srimangal to Sylhet as well as a guide to meet me at the bus station in Sylhet were taken care of. The Swamp forrest was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget. It was incredible to see for ones very own eyes an actual forrest under the water! Two children were paddling the boat and they sang some beautiful folk songs, adding to the whole fairytale like experience. On the third day I headed for Lawachara National Park, where I saw all sorts of creatures from various sized spiders, monkeys, squirrels to footprints from some of the animals who’d came and went. After we went to a local market where I saw everything from hoards of chickens piled into cages, various sizes of live fish, to all the local fresh fruit and vegetables. It was mind blowing to see the various foods on sale as well as the quantity of products. On the final day I took a trip out to the Hum Hum waterfall. We walked two hours past amazing views, overseeing the Indian boarder before arriving at the most magnificent sight I’ve ever set my eyes on, this humongous, fast flowing waterfall right before my very eyes. Later on I went to the National Tea Plantation Factory and was given the download on the ins and outs of all of the various stages that comes with tea processing from leaf to cup. It was amazing to see all these massive tea processing machines in action. This was my experience of Bangladesh, what a great country it is.
